Religion is formally defined as a set of beliefs that is critically related to the values and perceptions that is highly in conjunction with the very existence of life. For others, religion is more commonly described as an established relationship between man and a higher supernatural being. Theosophy, on the other hand, is another term that is most commonly mistaken to have the same definition with religion. In the real sense, theosophy is the set of guidelines that are highly related to the how the philosophy of religion is established.
One significant difference between religion and theosophy is their nature. Religion comes in various groups that possess different beliefs, practices and principles in incorporating their specific religion to their way of life. Theosophy, on the other hand, exists along with the existence of every religion and is known to come in conjunction to achieving a successful relationship with the higher known being. With this belief, religion is one track that will lead believers into achieving immeasurable satisfaction, which is theosophy.
Religion and Theosophy also has a varied perception on the theory of how the entire universe came into perfect existence. In Theosophy, there are seven steps on how the world came to be. It also delves into the concept of faith deeply by following certain principles. Religion does not function in such manner. Religion is the aspect that allows individuals the freedom to practice their beliefs freely.
For many years, historical and recent records have shown that religion, along with its contraptions, has more followers and believers compared to those who believe and live up to the principles upheld by theosophy.
While the use of religion and theosophy remains to confuse many people, it is vital that their definitions be known for their appropriate usage.
