India is a South Asian country that continues to catch the interest of many people, especially the tourist individuals. It is a fact that India is rich in history, culture and people. Along with these features is the fact that India is distinctly famous for its cuisine. Indian cuisine is characterized by the extensive use of spices, herbs, and other vegetables indigenous to India. Their cuisine is more often associated with their religious beliefs and practices. Despite having a common nature, a wide assortment of dishes and cooking techniques are employed.

In the Northern and Southern regions of India, there are stark differences between food consumed and this can be partly explained on the basis of crops and spices grown in the two areas.

In North India, the main crop widely grown is wheat. Such massive production permits the people of North India to delve into baking as well as preparing dishes that makes good use of wheat. Apart from wheat, North India also grows various types of spices, which make their dishes highly distinguishable. In Southern India, rice production has been part of their agricultural life, making such grain their staple food. More so, they utilize much of their coconut products, giving distinct thickness to their food selection.

In addition to that, Southern India are more particular with the ingredients they use while the people of North India basically love enriching their cuisine with a variety of flavors form various natural ingredients.

For many years, South and North Indian food have greatly influenced other nations and countries. In many parts of the world, Indian cuisines of the North and the South have been appreciated. Today, regardless of their disparities, North and South Indian food is well loved by many people.
