Nowadays, there are lots of milk varieties available. In fact, milk has become a very wide term that may refer to almond milk, soy milk and also the standard cow milk. This article discuses the regular milk and soy milk by highlighting their key differences.
1. Nutrition
Soy milk offers better nutrition than the standard milk. It has lots of essential B vitamins such as B12 and B2. These two vitamins are needed for carrying out various body processes and they are not found in standard milk. To add onto the unhealthy nature of standard milk, it actually has more saturated fat and cholesterol compared to soy milk.
2. Effects
Soy milk consumption has several beneficial effects within the body. It can reduce the levels of blood cholesterol significantly. Taking daily amounts of soy milk may even reduce your chance for getting heart complications and some cancers. For women, consumption of soy milk helps to minimize or control the signs of menopause. Meanwhile, drinking standard milk only provides calcium, which is needed for bone and teeth health.
3. Production
Soybeans are used to make soy milk and they contribute to its high protein content. This is because soybeans contain all the amino acids which cannot be produced by the body itself. Hence, consuming soy milk regularly will offer you the advantage of a full set of important amino acids. Meanwhile, the standard milk production takes place in the body of the cow. It is usually influenced by the kind of feeds given to the cow. Usually, cows are fed grass grown using chemical fertilizers, which means the milk produced is not very healthy.
For vegetarians and diet enthusiasts alike, soy milk offers the best source of proteins and it is also very healthy. However, standard milk is cheaper than soy milk.
