Answer #1
Adverbs and adjectives are parts of grammar that have different usage. An adverb simply refers to a word that describes an action or verb whereas an adjective describes a noun. This is one of the differences between adverbs and adjectives.
The two parts of grammar are considered essential especially when it comes to usage. An adjective for example is used to describe a noun. If you want to describe a rose (noun), the most likely adjective you can use can be white or red. ‘A yellow rose’ or ‘a blue rose. These two expressions describe the noun ‘rose’.
You should always ensure you use an adjective closely to describe a noun. This is a general rule of thumb in grammar. In the example above, red is a plural and should be used as ‘red roses’ rather than ‘reds roses’. The English dialect differs from other European language whereby the adjective must follow a noun.
Adverb, on the other hand describes a verb or an action. Let’s study the following examples;
* He ran extremely fast.
* She spoke intelligently.
* She danced slowly.
In these sentences, the adverbs ‘slowly’, ‘fast’ and ‘intelligently’ are used as expressive of the verbs ‘danced’, ‘ran’ and ‘spoke’ respectively.
You can also use an adjective to modify a pronoun. ‘She worked throughout and was tired’. In this sentence, ‘tired’ is an adjective that highlights the pronoun ‘she’ while an adverb is expressive of other adjectives.
*That man is extremely generous. In this sentence, the adjective generous tell us more about the man (noun). Extremely, on the other hand modifies the adjective generous.
Summary:
* Adjective describes, identified and qualifies a pronoun or noun, but an adverb is expressive of an adjective and verbs as well.
* You can use an adjective to modify a pronoun whereas an adverb is suggestive of an adjective.
