In the modern world of today, new techniques and innovations have been created and made available in order to establish a well civilized and evidently advancing use of technology in the society. One of technology’s widely used techniques of this modern era is the Internet. The Internet allows individuals to browse through the World Wide Web and access numerous sites that feature a variety of interesting subjects. Apart from the great privilege of browsing through different sites and engaging into various applications, one greater privilege that Internet users have is the ability to upload and download files and data.
While for most people they are referred to similarly as one and the same, these two bear disparity that should be known appropriately.
One of the basic differences between the terms, upload and download is their function. While upload pertains to the process of making pertinent files, data or information be known and viewed by the public through the use of the Internet, download is a term that refers to accessing through several sites and saving it up on one’s personal computer or gadget.
Another difference between the two is the range of privacy that is allowable for each process. In the process of uploading, generally, the entire population who can gain access to the Web have the utmost freedom of viewing the uploaded files. In downloading, on the contrary, only the person who has interest on the subject can view the files or data be downloaded, since the utilized gadget is in one’s own possession.
In this light, upload and download can simply be differentiated by the fact that in uploading, data is for the Web whereas in downloading, data comes from the Web.
Evidently, uploading and downloading have become very influential in today’s era.
