Tikka and Tikka Masala may be very unfamiliar since this is a foreign food from India. Though the name sounds unfamiliar, these are just actually made of chicken chunks. However, there are also differences in these types of food in terms of origins and the way each is prepared.
Tikka originally came from India since it has been a cuisine for more than 50 years. Tikka Masala’s origin has still some confusion because others say it came from United Kingdom and from a state in India.
What makes Tikka Masala different from Tikka is the Masala or the spices. Tikka Masala has more spices good for those who seek for excitement and thrill in eating. The two types of food are also prepared the same – the chicken bits/pieces/chunks are marinated with yogurt and spices are then these are baked with the use of special Indian oven called tandoor made of clay. Cooking the chicken in the clay oven gives off a better and authentic taste but then if you don’t have this at home, you may use the usual oven in the kitchen.
Tikka Masala has a special ingredient which as mentioned, more and mixed spices. When tasted, Tikka Masal is hotter and zestier. With the presentation, they also look the same – chicken dipped in red-colored sauce which is very creamy because of tomatoes and ingredients like paprika powder, coconut, and turmeric.
