Nature has its own way of expressing its wonders. For the people to witness its exuberance, the natural phenomena that exist are the indications of nature’s genuineness. One of the products of nature is the beach. Beaches are found variably in many places of various countries in the world. Apart from the coolness of the waters, beaches are known to produce tides and waves. Tides are scientifically described as the regular rise and fall of water, which are caused by the natural effect of gravity. Waves, on the other hand, are evident due to the presence of the wind taking effect on the currents of the water.

Aside from the different sources of tides and waves, they also differ in the way they are formed. While waves re formed by the interplay of speed, distance and dimensions of the wind with water, tides are formed depending on the span of time that the level of the sea is able to rise until the time it will fall again.

Another identified difference between the tides and the waves is their effect on water. Tides evidently cause the waters to reach the shore, far or near from the ideal shoreline. Waves, on the contrary cause the water to move in high or low wave lengths. High wave lengths are the ideal waves that permit surfers to go on surfing due to the amount of wind hitting the waters, while low wave lengths deprived them of doing so.

It is obvious therefore, that tides and waves are different from each other. Although many people are still confused in identifying the thin line of difference between the two, tides and waves possess disparities that should be recognized for the terms to be used in the most appropriate manner possible.
