Research is one important term that is most likely associated in many aspects, even in one’s daily forms of living. Even in the simplest subject, research can well be employed, especially when one’s level of curiosity strikes at its peak. Research basically follows one conventional process of observation, formulation of queries, making of hypothesis, gathering of data, analyzing such data and then finally coming up with one valid and reliable conclusion. Within each of these steps are techniques that aid in the conduction of research. Two vital parts that are considered to be vital in the conduction of researches are the methods and the methodologies.

For most people, research methods and research methodologies bear no difference at all. However, such terminologies are of different natures, purposes and uses per se.

The major difference between the two is their core or nature. Research methodology is basically rooted on the existence of the methods while research methods are in the primary line of conducting the research.

Another difference between the two is their purposes. While research methodologies give light to what and how appropriate the planned methods to be used will be, research methods are the techniques itself that permit experiments and studies to be successfully initiated, performed and concluded.

More so, research methods differ from research methodologies by their use. Research methodologies are typically utilized at the beginning of every experiment to explain how and why such chosen methods will serve its function. Research methods, on the contrary, are more useful at the latter part of an experiment or research since they are being utilized for conclusions to be aptly made.

Even until this modern time, research, along with its associated parts and functions, greatly contributes to the advancing developments in almost every aspect.
