The importance of documents cannot be overstated as they play an essential role in the way people correspond with one another. Documents act like records for different kinds of communications and transactions between various groups. The two main formats used for creating and sending documents are DOC and PDF.

1. Developing company

DOC and PDF are produced by varying companies. PDF was produced by Adobe systems, whereas DOC was produced by Microsoft. As such, each of these two companies has also created programs that can be utilized for creating and editing these two document formats. Microsoft created MS Word, while Adobe produced Acrobat. Furthermore, PDF is open source in nature and allows developers and other people to make new editing tools as contrasted to the proprietary software of Microsoft.

2. Editing

DOC files are normally created through using MS Word and then later saved in the PDF format. If you desire to edit such a file, then you should first edit your Word document before saving it again. However, Acrobat has limited capability of editing PDF content. This is because the reason that PDF files were created was for delivering the files in a format that is easily recognizable by every platform. That is why few people create documents through using Acrobat.

3. Content delivery

All documents that are created using the DOC format are normally less consistent and accurate than PDF files that retain every little adjustment made inside the document. One simple example is when a writer uses a distinctive font that the receiver’s laptop or computer might not have. Once the receiver opens that document, the computer normally replaces the font. This can really create problems particularly for certain documents that require precise rendition like company logos and letterheads. For precise content delivery, it is better to use the PDF format.

Knowing the above differences may assist managers and workers choose wisely with regards to document handling.
