Technology is always advancing and a few months after one technological innovation is introduced to the public another better technology is developed. Examples of which are the ones developed by Apple Inc., the iPad and the iPhone. Prior to the release of iPhone in the market, Steve Jobs, chief executive officer of Apple, admitted that iPad was developed earlier than iPhone. To categorize the two, an iPad is a tablet computer while an iPhone is a smartphone. The camera of iPhone 3G is 2.0 megapixel on its back and 3.0 megapixel for iPhone 3GS while iPhone 4 which is the latest model has a 5.0 megapixel camera on its back and another on the front that is used for VGA photos and SD video recording. For iPad, the first generation doesn’t have any camera at all. It was in iPad 2 that already contains two cameras. The back camera has a 720p HD still and video camera with 5x digital zoom while the front camera has a VGA-quality still camera. If you want convenience, an iPhone 3GS only weighs 4.8 ounces with a palm sized screen of 3.5 inches while the new iPad 2 has become 33% thinner than the first generation and 15% lesser in weight. For iPhone’s 3G and 3GS models, an assisted GPS is already a standard whereas the wifi-only models of iPad don’t even have a built-in GPS chip but upgrading it to its 3g model for GPS is possible so as to have the built-in GPS chip. When it comes to battery time, an iPad’s battery can be up to 10 hours when it is used for web surfing, video and music whereas an iPhone’s battery time will only last for about 5-6 hours once it is used for web surfing but could last for a maximum of 24 hours if used for audio playback only. However, both devices are still run under the same operating system by Apple.
