Graduate and undergraduate schools are two distinct paths of acquiring a degree and further pursue your education at the University. Basically, it is mandatory to complete Undergraduate school. The main difference between the two modes of study include degrees received, course work and time commitment. Read on and learn more differences between Graduate school and Undergraduate school.
1. Time Commitment
You require a period of four years to complete your undergraduate classes. Some students however complete their undergraduate studies earlier by taking addition classes or summer classes during the holidays. Basically, time commitment depends on the course you are taking, whereas Graduate school entails more course work. In other words, Graduate School and Doctoral degree require more time commitment than Undergraduate School.
2. Course work
Graduate school entails in depth-learning and is more astringent and rigorous as compared to Undergraduate Study. For starters, many graduate courses expect all students to sacrifice their time so they have ample time to grasp the concepts taught. Undergraduate School on the other hand is more contemporary and has flexible course work.
3. Degree programs
Both Graduate and Undergraduate schools offer diverse degree programs. You can either decide to get a Bachelor Degree in Law after you have completed Undergraduate School. This simply means that Undergraduate School is the foundation to higher learning where you can enroll for either a doctoral or Master’s program.
4. Mode of study
Another significant difference between Graduate school and Undergraduate school is the course of immediate focus one enrolls for in Graduate School. In other word, Undergraduate School prepares students as they learn multiple subjects besides their course of choice. Graduate Students on the other hand focus on one course.
When it comes to financial aid, graduate students apply for fellowship, assistantships and loans. Undergraduate schools have access to monetary aid in form of grants.
