Emo is a type of music that begun in the 1980’s. It is a type of rock music that uses melodic musicianship together with lyrics that are confessional and expressive. Originally, it was considered to be music that was sung by a hard-core punk movement that had its roots in Washington DC. In this time, it used to be referred to as emotional hard-core. Since the music was being done by musicians who were of the American Punk Rock bands, it started shifting its meaning and sound.

The change was a blend of pop punk together with Indie rock. By the time it was mid 1990’s there were many bands in the mid-west and the central of United States who started using the style. This resulted with some rock labels having specialization with the style. By the time the twenty first century started, it had reached the mainstream culture. Jack on the other hand is an emo singer. This is a person who sings in the traditional emo method instead of the current day methods of emo. Some people have been mistaking him for being an emo fanatic. However, this is not the case.

The first thing that you will notice with his lyrics is that they are not as confessional and suicidal as the current lyrics done by emo artists and bands. In fact he tends to try and change the public’s mentality on the emo style of thinking. In most of his songs, he seems to portray the same message that the original emo type of music was portraying. This has brought some issues with the current style of emo. In some cases, there are rock bands who have accused him of trying to start his own emo style. This is the main difference between emo and Jack.
