Answer #1
Drapes and curtains are similar objects as they perform the same task of increasing the appearance of any structure. Nonetheless, besides that similarity there is a clear distinction between these two objects. The most confusing thing is that many people think that drapes and curtains to be the same object. This is not true and the following article will explain why.
1. Features
In general, a drape has a lining and it covers the whole length of a door or window from top to bottom. It is attached with hooks to the traverse rod. In most instances, a cord is used for drawing the two panels either closed or open. Meanwhile, a curtain does not have a lining and it is thereby hung by tabs from a regular rod. Curtains do not have a set length and you can find both short and long curtain panels. Once linings are added onto curtains, it is going to appear like drapes.
2. Style
Drapes are stylish and more formal in contrast with curtain. This means drapes are found in courts, hotels and other areas that are considered as formal. However, curtains are commonly used in local shops and houses. This is because drapes are normally opened using a cord, whilst curtains require being closed or opened by hand.
Furthermore, drape panels are generally pleated. This means that even once it has been opened; it is still part of the window view. In contrast, curtains are informal and simple to make. They are light in weight and are mostly used like a decoration.
