Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is a program in which the organization or business plans and prepares for the possible tragedy or crisis that may affect their operation. Crisis not only includes natural disasters such as typhoon or tsunami but also includes sudden resignation or death of employees that play an important role in their organization. It focuses on how to minimize and prevent the damage taken from the catastrophe and occurs before and during the calamity happens.
Disaster Recovery (DR) is a just a part of BCP which focuses on the actions or procedures the organization will undergo after the disaster strikes. Its main aim is to preserve the organization which means coping up with the damage done and standing up to be able to operate again. DR occurs after the calamity and concentrates on how to restore the assets and properties essential for normal operation.
