Brain tumor is medically defined as a gathering of abnormal “tissue cells” found within the brain. These abnormal cells are growing and spreading uncontrollably as a group.
Cells that make up a tumor were once normal brain cells. However with unknown cause the normal cells begin to mutate and act unnaturally. The abnormal cells start to divide themselves and produce more of their kind. As the group of abnormal cells starts to grow, it becomes a tumor.
If not diagnosed early and treated accordingly, the tumor will continue to grow bigger and bigger which will eventually compress and add pressure to the areas in the brain surrounding it. If there is a tumor in the brain, it will be hard for the brain to function properly and most likely feel throbbing and continuous headache. Brain tumor may also grow in different ways, one as malignant (cancerous) cells, and two as benign (non-cancerous) cells.
Having said this, brain cancer is the disease caused by a malignant brain tumor causing the body’s immune system to deteriorate. Usual symptoms include vomiting, headache, blurry vision, nausea, vomiting, seizure, difficulty walking, and/or lack of sensation in one part or more of the limbs.
As compared to brain tumor, brain cancer is more dangerous and needs immediate medical attention. Brain cancer is normally treated by means of removing the tumor causing cancer. After the surgery, doctors will remove whatever remaining cancer cells that was able to spread and contaminate other brain tissues by means of radiation and chemotherapy.
The thing about brain cancer is that it can be caused by various types of brain tumors. And by fact, there are more than 100 types of brain tumors which make it a bit complicated for doctors to provide treatment since different types of tumors need different approaches in treating the cancer cells.
