Businesses are determined to be in the level of success when profits, benefits and gains are evidently remarkable and are highly beyond the costs and expenses that the company has gained and earned. However, businesses are highly dependent on either the number of investors willing to invest or the amount of money that will be invested by one prominent company. Thus, gaining the trust of investors, local or foreign, is vital for businesses to be put up and be funded well enough to sustain the sales competitions in the market. For most investors, one of the most vital aspect is the Earnings per Share or the EPS.
EPS is either recognized as basic or diluted. Basic EPS is the application of a simple mathematical operation of dividing the total number of profit or gains by the number of investors or shareholders that are in existence. Diluted EPS, on the other hand, is quite a complicated type as it utilizes complex techniques and a high level of accuracy.
In this light, these two can further be differentiated in the light of validity and reliable. While basic EPS employs the basic concept of adding and dividing, which can be easily done by the majority of the population, diluted EPS is deemed to provide one valid and highly reliable due to the accuracy that is employed in obtaining such type of EPS.
Apart from that, basic EPS and diluted EPS differ in result. In computing for diluted EPS, it is expected that the results are lower compared to the result that is obtained when basic EPS is computed for.
Until this time, EPS remains to be vital among existing businesses and investors, as they are one of the determinants of the company’s achieved level of success.
